YMCA OF GREATER OKLAHOMA CITY Council Responsibilities Purpose: The Council is a core group of leadership volunteers who are willing to leverage their time, talent and resources to further the YMCA Mission and Cause. The Council gives leadership to the Branch in three primary areas: advocacy, financial development and committee involvement. Mission: To put Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind & body for all. Cause: Strengthen the foundations of community through the focus areas of youth development, healthy living and social responsibility Term: 3 years beginning on November 1st of election year Requirements: Complete annually a background check, volunteer orientation, child abuse prevention policy/training, volunteer agreement and consent to regular sex offender screenings. Additionally, trained to communicate the Y’s impact statement with a personal story. Key Priorities & Expectations: Advocacy & Impact- Promote the YMCA in professional and personal networks Represent the YMCA in an official capacity when called upon Identify community needs the YMCA should address Assure quality assurance of YMCA programming & services Committee & Volunteer Participation- Serve on and fill a leadership role on a standing Committee Engage in programs/events as a volunteer/participant Fundraising Contribute a personally significant gift to YMCA Annual Campaign Raise additional contributions toward overall Campaign goal Engage & secure sponsors for District & Association fundraising events Meeting/Event Attendance 75% combined attendance in Council meeting/Committee meeting Attend Annual Campaign Events (Kickoff, Report, Celebration) Attend Association-wide events (Annual Meeting, Champions Rally)
